Next Scheduled Broadcast: Sept. 25
(Season 2 premieres Oct. 2)
With “The Amusement Park” LIVE on location at the Ford Center this week, “IceMen Insights” adopts a bit of a different format for one week only – but still brings it with another hour of analysis and nonsense…
This week’s top story is the (finally) officially-announced hiring of Derick as the new IceMen radio broadcaster. Shocker throws WYIR’s Andy Fuller under the
bus Jambulance for spilling the beans, Derick explains that he’s medically cleared to start the season after recently sustaining a concussion, we discuss what it’s like working in the IceMen office and why Derick prefers to be called “The Mouth of the IceMen,” and we clarify what Derick’s hiring means for the future of “IceMen Insights.” (Hint: Season 2 premieres in a few weeks!)
Derick and I then discuss Ron Geary’s stance on spending to the salary cap, the returns of Matt Krug and Donnie Harris, the signing of Loren Barron and his connection to Krug, Peter Sakaris getting a look with the Blue Jackets, longing for Austin Madaisky, and if Josh Beaulieu will shift from wing to center this season.
This week’s topics also include the IceMen office improving communication with the fans, old players and even older Brian Patafie, the upcoming season ticket holder open house at the Ford Center, the now-cancelled free agent camp, plans for training camp and a public intra-squad scrimmage, and why the IceMen won’t be playing any pre-season games.
Plus: A pair of podcast-exclusive segments in honor of Derick, Shocker rants about noisy fans at “IceMen Live,” That’s What She Said, Jacob Franklin begging for on-air mentions, Journey and the Macarena, Derick is Shocker’s trained monkey, Ian Fraser’s “Jaaason Daaale,” Terry Ficorelli’s tan, Derick hilariously quotes “Goon,” a team of goalies, “Brokeback Mountain,” Derick gets excited about hockey equipment, upcoming Booster Club events, and no more Music Bomb!
