The IceMen are off to their best start in franchise history, and “IceMen Insights” is hot as well with another lengthy installment of analysis and nonsense…
Derick and I discuss the IceMen ruining Kalamazoo’s home opener, Sunday’s big win over the Komets, Mike Clemente earning ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, Mike Seidel and Matt Lowry leading the offense, the positive impacts of Joe Lavin and Thomas Larkin on defense, Loren Barron’s debut, and Allen York’s brief departure and subsequent return.
This week’s topics also include Evansville hosting a future ECHL All-Star Game, Caden Patafie’s new behind-the-scenes Twitter account, Maniac Asylum t-shirts, last Sunday’s IceMen TV special on CBS 44, Fill The Bus for the Tri-State Food Bank, another Skate Down Memory Lane, our weekly update on The Birds and The BJs, and a look ahead at the next week of IceMen games.
In “Overtime,” our new podcast-exclusive bonus segment, Derick again takes us behind the scenes – “IceMen Live” and Coach Pyle cursing on the air, road trippin’ to Kalamazoo and rooming with Brian Patafie, Coach’s Corner at the Ford Center, and talking to Bob Chase. We also talk about EPD Officer Robert Green, CHL attendance woes, the Thomas Vanek trade, the hot start of the Colorado Avalanche, Seth Jones and Team USA, and Ryan Suter vs Shea Weber. (Note: If you’ve already listened to the on-air portion of the show, “Overtime” by itself is available below as a separate download.)
Plus: Backwoods hillbillies, “shoity” numbers, having sex with yourself, Ron Geary as James Bond, Derick and the drug dealer, looking forward to Education Day, Stephen Rickard’s Taters, the Fort Wayne Pumpkins, fleeing undergarments, Derick watching late-night TV, Ron Burgundy in Kalamazoo, Teemu Selanne is old, Taylor Swift’s love life, Derick is a little stiff, calling 867-5309, a classic Halloween tune, and Derick goes both ways!
