The IceMen are leading the North Division and have won 4 straight games, the franchise’s longest ECHL winning streak to date. In this week’s “IceMen Insights” episode…
Derick and I discuss the team’s back-to-back home victories over the Walleye, funny moments during in-game promo contests from the Toledo games, game postponements due to winter weather, injuries piling up, Mike Seidel heating up, Matt Krug bringing the pain (and some offense too), Donnie Harris’ return to the Ford Center, Austin Madaisky’s imminent return to Evansville, losing our goalies, and the most talented player we’ve ever seen in an IceMen uniform.
This week’s topics also include temporary captains (or lack thereof), Teddy Bear Tosses throughout IceMen history, a relatively rare call that produced an Evansville goal, call-ups vs. loans, training camp cuts refusing to come back, Booster Club updates, Coat-A-Kid, Rink in the New Year, another Skate Down Memory Lane, our weekly update on The Birds and The BJs, the Orthopaedic Associates Injury & Transaction Report, and a look ahead at upcoming IceMen games.
In “Overtime,” Derick again takes us behind the scenes – The Bus Trip From Hell (Frozen Over), Guy Lepine’s snowball-throwing prowess, the upcoming CBS 44 TV special, and a chat with ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. We also talk about “Skate with Santa” at Swonder, possible changes to the ECHL’s Overtime/Shootout format, and what’s happening out in the Western Conference – including updates on Rich Kromm’s Stockton Thunder, a few former IceMen players, and Bakersfield’s risky “free season tickets” promotion.
Plus: Derick likes penii, Matt Krug listens to the show, “Chocolate Covered Anything Night,” Ian Fraser in Brian Patafie’s pants, mob bosses, Derick hates puppies and kittens, a musical tribute for Stephen Rickard’s birthday, bilingual scientology, “Fudge Puppies,” Patafie pulls no punches on Todd Robinson, a Skype bimbo wants Derick, free pizza, The Hunger Games, sending the Komets out West, Chet & Bunz, Derick drops an F-bomb during OT, Santa is a referee, Blizzard and Brad Perkins engage in a cowbell battle, Patafie’s hilarious stories on “IceMen Live,” Derick calls for a MySpace revolution, Yorkford Salad, the New Jersey Dump, and Derick’s dad chasing sorority girls!
