Now that we’re past the playoffs transactions for the next season have begun. Over the next few weeks we should start to get a good picture of next years team. Here’s what’s transpired recently.
On June 6th, the IceMen re-signed defenseman Jake Obermayer. Obi was acquired in trade from Rio Grande Valley in January. I’m thrilled to see him back next season.
In other trade news, the IceMen completed their trade with the Dayton Gems, acquiring the rights to center Mike Vaskivuo. This completes the Damien Surma trade. Vaskivuo is a great young pickup and along with Eric Boisvert should really give the IceMen some scoring talent for many years to come.
In other news, Jeff Nelson announced his retirement. Jeff’s hockey career spanned 18 pro seasons and he ably lead the IceMen through their first CHL season. He will be truly missed.
